In this photo we are waiting for a deuce and a half truck to picked us up. We are near the ARVN bunkers where the ARVN's are guarding part of Hwy 1. Our patrol is finished. We have let our guard down.
We did learned our lesson about being so close to each other. As this photo shows we are. One of the squads of 3rd. platoon was fragged by the VC in a passing bus. I don't recall how many we lost. Half the squad I think.
In this photo if we would of been fragged it would of been my fault. We're sitting ducks here. I was in charge of this patrol and these men were green and counting on me. We got lucky this time.
That's me squatting and looking at the camera. I miss these guys.
